September Frist Friday Art Walk | 9/5 5-9pm
The Colorado landscape has a way of quieting us. Wide skies, rugged peaks, soft meadows, and shifting light remind us how fleeting and eternal a single moment can feel. In her new show Quiet Grandeur, opening at Osmosis Gallery during the September First Friday Art Walk, artist Lydia Pottoff captures that feeling with warmth and sensitivity.
Lydia works in both oil and pastel, painting impressionistic landscapes that carry a strong sense of place. Years of painting outdoors on location have shaped her ability to notice the subtle changes of light and color. Snow resting on distant mountains, the shimmer of autumn trees reflected in water, or the presence of an old barn in a quiet field are all part of the stories she tells through her art.
Her path back to painting began after a long career in design, when she returned to pursue a more personal vision. Since 2001 she has built a reputation for her award-winning work, becoming a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of Colorado and sharing her knowledge through classes and workshops. Her paintings are now held in collections across the country.
Quiet Grandeur brings together Lydia’s years of study and love of the land. The works on view carry both technical mastery and an emotional depth that makes the familiar feel new again.
