Sarah Tepler Drobnitch

self portrait.JPG

Sarah Tepler Drobnitch is a ceramic artist, painter, designer, and scientist. Her ceramic vessels stand out for their strong lines, bold forms, and fields of color. She draws inspiration from historical and contemporary American Indigenous art, the clean simplicity of Danish modern design, and the austere elegance of feudal Japanese aesthetics. Each piece is highly individual—sometimes variations on a theme, but always unique.

With a BA in Archaeology from Columbia University and a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, Sarah brings a deep appreciation for history, culture, and natural systems to her artistic practice. Her ceramic training includes mentorship from Jeff Jewel (New York), Don Cox (Tucson, AZ), Julia Zuniga (Boulder, CO), and Lynette Case (Longmont, CO).

Her work has been exhibited nationally, including the Coors Western Art Show in Denver, the LHUCA “Field of View” group show in Lubbock, TX, and multiple appearances in Western Gallery’s “New Western Talent” exhibitions, where she was named a Top 10 finalist in 2022. She has also been featured in the Pierogi Gallery Flat Files in New York since 2017, as well as in solo and group shows across Colorado, Massachusetts, and beyond.
