Janet Rundquist Quinn

I have a passion for the West and nature. Together their colors, smells, textures, and contradictions provide ever-changing dramas which challenge me to intuitively translate them to canvas. I am generously supplied with an abundance of natural catalysts for my paintings.

Inspiration can arrive by observing the subtle changes in the atmosphere, sometimes by a cloud, shadow or the sun hitting the tips of grass. My job is not to imitate nature. My intent is to create paintings that reflect the vastness of nature. Atmospheric color fields dominate each painting, allowing structural forms to provide subtle contrasts within the composition.

I live with my husband in Evergreen, Colorado, situated in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains where the wildlife, mountains, rocks, trees, and changing weather are challenging me right now to come and take delight in them.
