Gaynor Nelson

self portrait.JPG

Longmont artist, Gaynor Nelson, paints primarily in oil on linen. She has developed a personal style of painting that is highly influenced by the Classical Realist tradition.

Her subject matter varies, including portraits, figurative “narrative” works, animals, still lifes, and landscapes. Many of her works begin with tonal underpainting, followed by multiple layers of glazes and impasto paint. In addition to working in her studio, Gaynor organizes a weekly life drawing group for local artists.
