Daniel Wood Adams

self portrait.JPG

Daniel Wood Adams is an illustrator, woodworker, and printmaker based in Austin, Texas. His work blends traditional woodcut printmaking with contemporary illustration, drawing from American landscapes, western iconography, and the quiet narratives of rural and working-class life. He holds a BFA in Illustration and an AAS in Graphic Design from Pratt Institute and has worked professionally as an art director and illustrator for over a decade.

Alongside his commercial practice, Daniel maintains a focused fine art studio centered on hand-carved relief prints. His work explores place, labor, and myth through bold compositions and restrained color palettes, emphasizing texture, imperfection, and the physicality of the carved line. By working in relief print, where each mark is deliberate and irreversible, his images balance control and chance, favoring honesty and presence over idealization. His work has been exhibited in galleries, breweries, and cultural spaces across the United States.
