Barb Miller

self portrait.JPG

Barb Miller is a retired teacher who is joyfully embracing her next chapter as a full-time artist. After years spent raising a family, caring for loved ones, and teaching for over two decades, she now finds inspiration and delight in her Boulder, Colorado studio, where she works primarily with alcohol inks and hand-lettering.

Though she previously painted with watercolors, Barb discovered alcohol inks in 2019 and immediately fell in love with their rich saturation and spontaneous nature. Drawn to their vibrant color and unpredictability, she sees a reflection of life itself in their wild, uncontrollable beauty. Her work celebrates this energy, capturing a sense of movement, freedom, and joy.

Barb paints on Yupo paper, which she mounts to wood panels and seals with resin, enhancing the depth and intensity of each piece. Her art is a bright expression of her belief that the purpose of life is joy—and she shares that joy through every painting she creates.
