Astrid Paustian

Astrid Paustian works in oil, pastel, mixed media, and on silk, drawn to the vivid colors and textures each medium offers. Her work spans abstract paintings, abstracted landscapes, and plein air pieces that capture a sense of place and the feeling of a fleeting moment. Color is applied intuitively, and the results tend toward the peaceful and uplifting.
Living in Colorado, Astrid finds no shortage of inspiration in the state's scenery and skies. Over the years her work has moved increasingly toward abstraction, though a grounding in place and atmosphere remains at the center. Her silk scarves bring that same sensibility into wearable form.
Astrid's work is shown at several galleries along the Front Range, including the Art Center of Estes Park, the Pop Gallery, and R Gallery in Boulder.
