Karen Poulson

I find it a daunting task to come up with words for my paintings, as I have tried over the years to develop my own visual language. Art, for me, is an attempt to express the inexpressible, to reveal the unseen. In my work I am attempting to deal with eternal vs. the ephemeral quality of life and to fuse both paint and idea to surface.

Karen Poulson received her art training at Ohio Wesleyan University and the Cleveland Institute of Art.  Her work is in many private and public collections, including Hallmark, Inc., ConAgra, Pfizer, Storage Technology, Hyatt Hotels, the Viceroy Hotel, Colorado Women's College, and New Mexico's Art in Public Places.  She has exhibited in national juried shows and invitationals since the 1970's such as Watercolor USA at the Springfield Art Museum in Missouri, the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibit in Golden, The Dairy Art Center in Boulder, and "Moore Inspired," at Denver's Botanic Gardens.  She was recently honored as "Distinguished Alumni Artist" with a 1-woman exhibit at Ohio Wesleyan University.
