“My art is influenced by my travels abroad and my love of the sea, which grew out of my many years of sailing off the California coast. I thrive on vibrant colors and strong contrasts. I try to create art that not only shows another part of the world but also communicates how it makes me feel.”
Judi’s art affiliations include the Pastel Society of Colorado and Boulder Art Association. She is represented by and successfully selling her art through Osmosis Gallery, Niwot, Colorado; Westside Studio, Annapolis Royale, Nova Scotia, and Rembrandt Yard, Boulder, Colorado. Her work has been featured in multiple exhibitions and is held in many private collections.
Judi began her art endeavors as a young child, working with fabric under the guidance of two very talented grandmothers. In time, that work developed into designing and sewing clothing. Later she discovered art-quilting. She has designed and completed quilts for clients in the United States as well as in England and France.
Judi’s mother, a talented artist in her own right, introduced her as a young child to oils and pastels. She quickly discovered an affinity for pastel. Now that she has retired from the business world, she rediscovered her love for the medium.
A California native, Judi has also lived in Florida and Arizona. She has enjoyed careers in law and innkeeping. She moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1997 with her husband, Ray, a talented writer and woodworker. Today, Judi and Ray live in Longmont, Colorado with their retriever, Mandy. They have a daughter, Leah.
Judi is studying with Tyler Alpern.
